Sat, 20 Aug, Augusta, Mt. CROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE
Posted: August 21, 2011 Filed under: Cycling, Lewis and Clark Trail 5 CommentsJust grab your hat and take that ride, quoting The Band here…great song. I was a’hummin it all the up to Rogers Pass. Coming down I was thinking “from now on all the water and I head for St Louis.” While technically true, as soon as I completed the great 3-4 mile downhill the road started into long rollers-1.5 miles up in low gear, 1.5 miles down…very hot, dry and windy…did I say hot? Rolled into Augusta with 83 miles on the spdometer, two swallows of water left and chapped lips. Just watched the sun set over the Rockies TO THE WEST while eating ice cream. Great day on the bike. Pic is a happy moment. Tomorrow heading for the Great Falls of the Missouri River.

“just watched the sun set over the Rockies TO THE WEST while eating ice cream.” Now that is what I’m talking about! Go man! I can see that myself, especially after all those miles in the saddle. Ice cream and a sunset ~ what a life!
